FOR THE PAST FEW YEARS my mom has been trimming a “mini” Christmas tree. She gets a live tree about 3 feet tall tree, places it on a pedestal table, drapes the bottom with a tree skirt and decorates it with lights and ornaments. We always tease her by calling it a Christmas shrub, but the effect is actually very cute. Only the most special ornaments make the cut, so the entire tree is covered with lovely baubles that bring back great memories.
The mini Christmas tree is perfect if you don’t have the space for a hulking blue spruce, if you want to dress up another space in your home without going full tree, or if you just plain don’t want the hassle of dealing with a full size tree.
